THE VILLAGE STORY BOOK

THE PRISONER by Carol Brady

The Prisoner

Is it real? Or is it in my head?
Or maybe it’s all just a dream instead?
Or a nightmare or illusion of some kind
But I still have The Village on my mind

The way of life I know was put on hold
Because ‘They’ thought I could be bought and sold
I could be somewhat crazy or insane
But still, The Village is inside my brain

Do I haunt myself? Am I alive?
Although their tortures and their cruelty I survived
Just when I thought it safe to go back home
I lie awake remembering the Green Dome

I need to finish this; to end it all
To make the world around me Free for All
But I know I’m still a prisoner; I’m not blind!
I’ll always have The Village in my mind
